.FOOD IS GOOD AT REALLY REASONABLE PRICES. ONE OF MY FAVORITES IS THE CHAO MING. STOP BY, YOU WON'T REGRET IT.THIS IS A CLEAN AND COZY PLACE.MAY NOT LOOK NEW BUT IT'S STILL A NICE PLACE TO DO WORK MEETINGS, STOP FOR ANY LUNCH SPECIALS, OR FOR ANY OTHER REASON. THE ONLY DOWNSIDE IS THE RESTROOMS ... CUSTOMERS HAVE TO USE THE ONE LOCATED AT THE BAR NEXT TO.

This place is the best Chinese on the west coast. Even better then SF... I grew up in New England and believe it or not our Chinese restaurants are so amazing. They make chicken dishes with beautiful large white meat chicken and perfect just like Freds.. all the sides are not drowning in salty sauce.. thanks, Fred

BOMB!!! I ate here 2 of the 3 nights i stayed in ne ada city! All the food was very fresh and reasonably priced. The portions were nice too! Service was fast and on top of things. Whole place appeared to be very clean, had a good look at the kitchen.

I love this place. I've been coming here ever since I was little. Still great after all these years.

Good selection of Chinese food favorites, friendly service, and best of all great prices in a tourist town. Seating was comfortable and atmosphere was relaxing. Bathrooms are in the business next door; there is an interior side entrance to get from the restaurant side to the business where the bathrooms are located.

They wouldn’t let me order 2 orders of spring rolls, 2 orders of potstickers, and 1 order of Mooshu pork to feed my family.

Food was good, service was poor. My friend is vegetarian and gluten intolerant. Server said Seitan was made from soy and gluten free and when we googled it google said it was a wheat product and full of gluten. Server insisted it was soy and gluten free and my friend was wrong. The server was rude & surely to us the rest of our visit.

By far the best Chinese restaurant I've ever been too. Staff was nice but the adjcenct bar was a bit strange astetically. However it had a lively youthful atmosphere. Would definitely return.

Excellent recommendation from the folks at Inn Town Campground. It was hot outside, I wasn't feeling well and just needed some soup and potstickers. It was early on a Sunday night so I was literally the only customer. Service was attentive (the owner and his wife I believe) and the food did not disappoint. As I have found in my travels, no two restaurants make their War Won Ton soup the same way and this was no exception. A bit spicier than I like but plenty of meat and veggies (especially onions), heavy on the bamboo shoots, and clear broth. I'll be back for heartier fare the next time I'm in the area.

Tasty food, great price, better to-go!!

Have only ever ordered take out and always walk with food for 2 days for my family. Food is good and lasts in fridge for several days. The only negative this time was the paper wrapped chicken. Too salty. Everything else is fine

Great food, great bar next door (Mine Shaft) to wait for your takeaway in. Big portions. Highly recommend The Sesame Beef, The Beef Skewers and the Chicken Soup.

Great peaceful atmosphere with very fresh, well prepared dishes. Many choices and at a very reasonable cost. Large portions, good for a second meal.

For a Chinese guy that perms his hair and is named Fred he makes some of the best Chinese for thirty mile radius....

Place has a funny smell. Along with i did not know you could screw up Chinese food. But the flavors is lacking and portion are quite small. I would not go again

Friendly family business

A stalwart Nevada City business, always there when ya need it. Will fill you up and not break your wallet.

Typical Chinese fare. Okay-sized portions. Typical flavors. Fred seems so sad though. TIP: if you want a lot of veggies in your dish, I do NOT recommend the Chow Fun. See my pic for how many veggies vs noodles I was served!

The food and family here are just the best. If you haven't been to Fred's, you really need to try it.

Oh man... This place was so good. I ate about 3x what I should have because it was so good. The hot and sour soup was possibly the best I've had. The potstickers were excellent, too. All around a great restaurant.

I love Fred's. I first started going there 18 years ago. I live about 45 minutes from there. There food is the best. Everything is fresh, and freshly cooked. The service is top notch. I don't eat Chinese any where else. I will drive the 45 minutes it takes to get there. The best around.

The lunch menu was good portions ,slightly big and there service was good.

Great! Friendly and helpful service, food is good, and you can go nextdoor to grab a pint while you wait. Delicate, vintage menus; historic, fragile picture window.

The lunch is very filling. The bar attached asked that we buy the food as takeout and then we were welcome to sit in the bar to eat and order drinks.

My husband and I went to Fred's tonight and were pleasantly surprised. The service was great, the food was excellent and very reasonably priced! We will definitely be back!

Fred's is one my my favorite restaurants Ive been going there since I was a kid.

Food is delicious at fantastic prices, and the atmosphere is very cozy, great for family dinners and date nights!

Their Lemon Chicken and BBQ Pork Core Main are incredible! I would have given 5 stars if their Fried Rice loved up to the flavor quality of the rest. It was honestly a bit bland. I'll just get steamed rice next time.
